Prof. Ir. Dedi Fardiaz, Ph.D

Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs

Prof. Dedi Fardiaz is a faculty member at IPMI, tasked with developing Food Business Management courses and related activities. He now holds the position of Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs in IPMI. He is also a senior scientist at the SEAFAST Center, IPB University.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Product Technology from IPB in 1972 and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Food Science from Michigan State University in 1977 and 1980, respectively. Since 1973, he has been affiliated with the Department of Food Science and Technology at IPB University.

Prof. Dedi has published numerous scientific articles, accumulating 1,769 citations since 2020, with an h-index of 21 and an i10-index of 43 (according to Google Scholar).

His professional experience includes serving as Advisor to the State Minister for Research and Technology (2000-2001), Deputy Head of the Indonesian FDA (BPOM) for Food Safety (2001-2008), Chairman of the ASEAN Working Group on Food Safety Standards Harmonization (2002-2011), and Chairman of the ACCSQ Prepared Foodstuff-Product Working Group (2003-2010).

He has also worked as an international food safety consultant for WHO, the World Bank, EU-supported projects, and FAO in several countries. He contributed to the FAO’s “Guidelines for Risk Categorization of Food and Food Establishments” and currently serves as a Food Safety Advisor for ILSI, Southeast Asia Region.
