FINON Manager, Investment & Feasibility for Management Trainee – Astra Financial
21 May 2025
On May 8–9, 2025, Astra Financial organized a specialized training program titled FINON Manager: Investment & Feasibility, designed specifically for its Management Trainee (MT) cohort. The session was led by Prof. Roy Sembel and attended by 24 selected participants. The training began with introductions and a pre-test to assess participants’ initial understanding. The opening material covered key concepts such as VUCA and the differences between the Digital Economy and Leisure Economy, offering insights into the rapidly evolving business landscape. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, especially during the interactive ice-breaking sessions facilitated by Prof. Roy, which were met with great enthusiasm from the participants.
The training provided in-depth insights into strategic financial management. Prof. Roy emphasized the importance of building productive assets and differentiating between good debt—used to grow assets—and bad debt, which only adds to the burden. Participants were also introduced to the concepts of risk and return measurement, as well as the importance of clearly identifying sources of funding and managing expenses effectively. These topics enriched participants’ understanding of how to make informed and strategic financial decisions in a business context.
To reinforce the concepts presented, the sessions concluded with hands-on exercises on cash flow management and financial analysis through the Financial Detective method. In these exercises, participants were challenged to assess financial conditions based on case studies and apply the Five Pillars of Strategic Cash Management—a foundational framework in corporate financial planning. Through this training, Astra Financial demonstrates its commitment to equipping future leaders with strong financial acumen to support their professional growth and strategic roles within the organization.
