Introduction
About 96% of all businesses in Indonesia are family businesses. Large and small, the success of family businesses throughout the country has been a part of an important contribution to the present and future achievement of the Indonesian economy. It has also become one of the building blocks for the nation’s welfare.
IPMI Case Center through IPMI’s Family Business Center, endeavors in providing education, research, and services, specifically aimed at helping Indonesian family-businesses to survive, sustain, and succeed. In carrying out this mission, we are supported by the doyen of the network of family businesses in Indonesia, Ibu Shanti Poesposoetjipto. The Family Business Center is a collaboration with Yayasan Fitrah Bisnis Nusantara (Family Business Network Indonesia) in the success of our goals.
We also have a senior fellow on board who is an expert in Family Business, Prof. Enrique M. Soriano, III. He is a World Bank/IFC Governance Consultant, Columnist, Book Author, Former Chair, and Professor of Global Marketing at the ATENEO Graduate School of Business. Prof. Soriano is a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) and presently sits as Independent Director of Publicly listed Emperador Distillers and Travelers Hotel International (Resorts World Manila). He also sits as Board Advisor to 25 Family Businesses in Asia. As an advisor to business families worldwide and a sought after governance speaker, he has been helping IPMI International Business School with the run of its Family Business Center.
