Maritime Model United Nations (MUN)

Maritime Model United Nations (Maritime MUN) is a vision of IMC ,@imaritimec ,in collaboration with IESB (IPMI Executive Student Board) ,@ipmiexecutive ,to involve young people in discussions relating to maritime affairs.
The MUN itself is an activity where each participant can play a role like a diplomat or permanent representative who represents his country on the stage of the United Nations (UN). Of course, the themes raised will revolve around marine issues that affect the whole world and also Indonesia.
Because the aim of the MUN is to carry out simulations that are as close as possible to the actual UN, then we will raise these issues in 2 UN organs namely UNODC and UNEP.
UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) itself is an organ that takes care of matters relating to drugs and other criminal acts. Meanwhile, UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) is a special organization under the auspices of the United Nations which advises on the field of environment.
On this occasion, we will discuss two sub-topics, namely drug trafficking via sea lanes and sea pollution.
The topics to be raised include:
- Drug Trafficking Via Sea Routes and World Peace (UNODC)
- Countering / Confronting the Existential Threat of Maritime Pollution (UNEP)
The aim of Maritime MUN is to invite young people to be able to understand how the United Nations operates and to invite them to be more concerned and involved in issues related to maritime affairs so that it will ultimately have a positive impact on the world.
